Last Minute Touch-up

I spent 30 minutes today rechecking grammar and spelling and looking up addition background information.

Report

Today I spent about an hour looking up some articles and adding a little more to my post. Thanks for all your hard work, guys. I think everything looks great! I will make sure to bring the binder tomorrow. If I forget it, I owe you all $5 and you have permission to throw me down some stairs.

Oh, and don't forget your evaluations!

And I'm not sure about anyone else, but I would like to stay in this group for the next project.

Final Touches

Over the weekend I spent a couple of hours revising and doing final touches on my blog post. I also completed our cover page for the binder we're turning in on Tuesday. Things look great!

Reworking the Formatting Problems

After the blog was reformatted the videos which I had on the blog went down. I spent 2 hrs today reworking and trying to load them back up as clips, When this didn't work I had to embed them from Youtube.

Meeting Report

The in class meeting was successful and we have nearly fnished the entire project. Everybody was there except Tyler due to sickness but he was given an assignment in his missing and he fulfilled that. Everyone contributed and the project looks good.

Report

I spent about an hour last night going through Tyler's post and redoing that one vague coding sheet in the binder. I changed it from "Different countries have their different agendas but all are using the Muslim women" to "Different countries push their own agendas by using Muslim women. They make it appear as if they're doing it for the benefit of the women, but in reality they are doing more harm than good."

Work Report

I spent like 4 hours on Wednesday researching and finding articles and clips to help my argument with regard to Muslims in the media. I have been really sick lately with the flu but have stayed in touch with my team members. I wasn't able to come to our team meeting on Thursday due to being really ill. However, I requested an assignment that I could do to help in my absence. I have been told to make a cover sheet for the binder that we turn in on Tuesday and will have that finished over the weekend. I spent a couple of hours today finishing up my portion of the blog and just recently posted it. This is my report.

Report

I worked on the blog for an additional half hour tonight, finishing editing and fixing formatting issues.

And Kacie, your videos aren't working at the moment... I tried to listen to the Aladdin song ('cause I'm that cool) and it turns out that none of the videos were working for me. It might just be my computer or something, but it's worth looking into.

Work

Today I've been working on the blog for about an hour, just going through and doing some minor editing, mostly simple grammatical stuff. Some of the changes I made may just be my preference, so look over it and you can change it if you think it's better another way.

Also, Kacie--I will text you just to make sure you know, but while I was going over your section, something weird happened... and to make a long story short, I had to remove the formatting (I couldn't figure out how to get rid of whatever I did without removing the formatting altogether). So I tried to reformat it as well as I could remember, but I know I didn't do it exactly the same as it was before. I'm SO sorry. I feel really bad. I hope it doesn't take a long time for you to fix.

Our meeting today went really well! Tyler's in charge of making the cover for our binder and posting his section since he's sick and couldn't make it (feel better soon!), I'm going to fix that one entry in the binder, and everyone just needs to make sure their stuff is complete.

Maybe we should decide on a cutoff time. No more entries after Sunday night? Then we can all go over the blog, make sure it looks good, make sure there aren't any grammatical or spelling errors, and call it good!

Report

Before yesterdays meeting in the library I spent about 2 hours looking for information to back my cartoons, and create a very rough draft of my blog page. Today I filled out the coding sheets and made the folder pages for the 2 new cartoons i will be using.

Individual Work

Yesterday I posted my section of the presentation blog on Terrorism.  I finished getting the video clips and also researching the newest development of Muslims in the Media, the walking off of Whoopi and Joy on their own show the view when their guest Bill O'Reilly said, "Muslims killed us on 9/11." I was wondering if the statement was taken out of context on the major news networks, so I looked up the full clip on The View.  Bill O'Reilly did in fact say this, generalizing the entire Muslim population with the terrorist attacks on 9/11.

Work: Individual Report

On Saturday I spent two and a half hours looking for videos and articles to support my argument that Editorial cartoons are more fairly balanced in what they are trying to get readers to think about than what the mass media news coverage does toward Arabs/Muslims. By far we have found that there is more positive framing toward Muslims in the cartoons than what we see on the news. We had our team meeting yesterday as well and got some thoughts together concerning the blog. Although I was sorta out of it because I've been a little sick, so I'm not sure how much help I was being on drugs! :)

Team Meeting

Our team got together outside of class on Tuesday in the library to put our project together. Everybody was there and contributed to the making of the project. We will meet on Thursday in room 150 for the inclass work day.

I spent 2 1/2 hours today researching Mufreesboro and then creating a blog page with video clips from the Daily show and Nashville News also youtube videos.

Work

Today I've spent about 2 1/2 hours on the blog, including posting about my cartoon, and looking at different types of formatting. I also did some research and found a video clip to use with my cartoon.

P.S. If you're confused with the new layout of the blog, I will go over it in the meeting. Just post your stuff wherever so we have access to it. If you guys don't like it, I'm totally cool with changing it. I just wanted to have it set up this way so we wouldn't waste time at the meeting. See you tonight!

It looks like Brandon has to work and Sarah mentioned that we should try Tuesday night so that Brandon can meet up with us after work. I will not be available at all on Monday, however I am available as soon as the Media Smarts class lets out on Tues and on Wed I have no classes so I am able to meet any time that day.

i'm pretty much available everyday after 4. however this wednesday i am only available from 4-5:30. The rest of the week I am available all evening after 4. I could meet on monday, wednesday, of friday morning as well. I have class at 12:30 on those days, so any time before that i'm good.

Availability

Next week, I get out of class at 12:30 on Monday and Wednesday, but I can be available as early as 11:30 if I need to. Tuesday I'm available from 10:30-12 or after 2:45. I do have other commitments all week because I'm helping out with early voting. If we could set a meeting time ASAP so I can let them know when I can help, that would be great.

Thurs Meeting Report

During this meeting we decided to each take a cartoon and look up more extension background, also to have an in depth look at the framing of the cartoon, and to find video clips that related to the issues it presented. I spent an hour on that portion of the project today.

My Work

For our team meeting Monday I purchased cardstock for our binder and cute silver colored cardstock to mount the cartoons on. I also spent about an hour looking for and printing off 7 cartoons to contribute to the binder.

Report

Yesterday I found the remainder of my cartoons and did background research on them.  I attended the meeting and helped with the coding sheets.  Between now and Thurs I will think of what I want to suggest for the project.

Individual Report

We had a team meeting last night where we brought our editorial cartoons to the "table" and selected the ones we want to use and started creating our binder/notebook. I spent probably an hour or two looking for cartoons over last week and found about 10 cartoons. Things are going really well for our group project and we are making progress. We still aren't sure as to what our media project will be though, but we're considering the options.

Group Meeting Report

We met on Monday the 18th in the library to begin the binder portion of the project. Everybody brought cartoons and fulfilled their different assignments. We will meet again on Thursday for the class work day and we'll complete the binder portion and begin the other part. We will be in room 143 in the library for the meeting.

Individual Report for Team Meeting: 11 Oct

I attended the meeting today and we discussed our assignments. We also discussed options for our multi-media project. I will bring 5-7 comics to our next meeting on Monday where we will go over everyone's selections and decide which to use in our book and evaluate them together accordingly. My assignment was also to post on the blog in the absence of Jaron, our team coordinator. This is my report.

Team Meeting: 11 Oct 2010

We held a meeting today to decide our team name. We also decided on deadlines to have our comics selected by our next meeting on Monday, Oct. 18th. We are selecting 5-7 comics per team member and each group member has been assigned to bring a specific thing next meeting. Everyone has been accounted for and overall the project is underway. That's a wrap!
